Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Carl Hansson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Uriah Faber!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Faber drives through with a takedown into Hansson's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Hansson pushes Faber off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Hansson thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Faber if he has to take too many more of those.

Faber manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hansson on his heels. He'll look to pass Hansson's guard now, I'm sure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Faber content to control rather than advance.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Hansson gets caught flat footed, as Faber shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Faber has eaten all the pies!
Faber wants to control from the top but Hansson keeps moving.
Faber has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hansson is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Faber presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Hansson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Hansson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Faber to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Faber keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hansson's head.

Faber lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Faber cracks Hansson with a big elbow.
Faber wants to stand but Hansson is controlling his arm.

Hansson takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
A lull in the action here as Faber stalls from top position.

Faber cracks Hansson with a big elbow.
Faber controlling from side mount.
Hansson tries to bench press Faber off him but Faber keeps the position.

Uriah Faber showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


A head kick from Hansson lands but Faber takes it in his stride.
Hansson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Faber as he jumps to the side.
Faber misses with a wild combination.
Hansson explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
Hansson dives in and grabs Faber's left leg, looking for a takedown. Faber pushes down on Hansson's head and hops out.
Faber throws a sloppy head kick and Hansson moves out of range easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hansson tries for a takedown but Faber sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carl Hansson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hansson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Hansson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Faber shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Faber showed some decent athleticism there.
Faber winds up and cracks Hansson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Faber is working for a kimura but Hansson is defending it quite comfortably.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Faber in particular looking to stall.

Hansson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Uriah Faber comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Faber has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
