Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Larry Laffer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roger Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Larry Laffer!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Fedor Mirinova and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Laffer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Garcia looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Garcia wants to improve his position but Laffer is controlling well.
Laffer is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Laffer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Laffer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Laffer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Garcia is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Garcia is trying to escape the position but Laffer is controlling the position.

I looks like Laffer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Larry Laffer just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Laffer shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Garcia is controlling an arm, preventing Laffer from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Laffer has control of Garcia's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Garcia regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Laffer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Laffer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Garcia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Laffer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Garcia swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Larry Laffer showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

You can see the frustration on Garcia's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Laffer remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Laffer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Garcia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Laffer is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Garcia knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Garcia for a finish.

Laffer shoots for a double leg takedown but Garcia sprawls well. He's pushed Laffer's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Laffer is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Garcia doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Laffer.

Well Laffer has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
