PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Walcott (ranked 1694 p4p, 209 weight class) and Lip Ton (ranked 1161 p4p, 150 weight class). Walcott's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Way Of The Fist. Ton has chosen Snap - Rythm is a Dancing as his entrance music. The key to victory for Joe Walcott has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lip Ton!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ton lands with a right hand.
Ton throws a body shot but no joy.
Walcott misses with an uppercut. Ton saw that one coming.
Ton throws a hook to the side of Walcott's head but Walcott sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've been told by Walcott's head coaches at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Ton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nice straight punches there by Walcott. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Walcott.

Ton might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Ton has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Ton is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Ton wants to free his trapped foot but Walcott is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ton takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Walcott displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ton throws out the jab.
Walcott drops his hands momentarily and Ton takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Ton tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Walcott defends well and Ton ends up having to push Walcott into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Joe Walcott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lip Ton.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

It looked like Walcott wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

I would just about give that final round to Lip Ton.
I've got Ton winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Lip Ton took to the mic in his post fight interview and said 'I'm here to break some arms and snap some necks and tonight I proved that I'm the best of the best. Not one person in the promotion can play with me. I'm heading for the top and there is two things they can do about it - nothing and like it!'.
Joe Walcott spoke after the fight, saying 'WTF?!? Anyway Pit Bull Development is the best. I am always so focused because of that shit.'.
