Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Naozumi Akimoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Umbabarauma Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Akimoto's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, AudioMachine - Assassin. Naozumi Akimoto has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Naozumi Akimoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Umbabarauma Smith!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akimoto slips under a jab.
Akimoto shoots in but no luck this time.
Smith waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Akimoto.
Akimoto misses with a body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akimoto displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Smith throws out the jab.
Akimoto shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Smith as he avoids it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akimoto fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Naozumi Akimoto. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Akimoto.
Smith swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Akimoto shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Akimoto keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Smith misses with a looping right.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Akimoto uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Smith.
Akimoto will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
A swing and a miss from Smith.
Akimoto has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smith finds it's way round the side to connect with Akimoto's head.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Akimoto has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Smith is proving hard to escape from.
Akimoto has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Akimoto is stalling in the full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Akimoto tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Naozumi Akimoto will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Smith stuffs the takedown.
Akimoto slips a jab from Smith.
Akimoto ducks under a wild hook from Smith.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith misses with a looping right.

Akimoto shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Naozumi Akimoto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Akimoto with that takedown attempt.

The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Akimoto throws a right and a left that both miss.
Smith lands with an uppercut that bounces Akimoto off the ropes and back into rage.
Akimoto uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith.

Smith misses the jab.
A big right from Smith misses.
A telegraphed right hand from Akimoto misses the target.
Smith avoids a punch combination nicely.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Smith's corner calls for a 1-2. Smith obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Akimoto wants to clinch.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Smith jabbing away but nothing is landing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Umbabarauma Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Akimoto throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Akimoto misses with a takedown attempt - Smith sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Smith throws the left hand but Akimoto avoids the punch easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akimoto takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Smith takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Smith throws a big shot that misses.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Akimoto.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Akimoto looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.
Smith keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
A jab from Smith misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Akimoto tries to clinch but Smith moves out of range.
Smith pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Umbabarauma Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Smith has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
