Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Dexter (ranked 9805 p4p, 513 weight class) and Howard McCormick (ranked 24671 p4p, 553 weight class). John Dexter could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Howard McCormick's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, John Dexter !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Howard McCormick!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCormick tries to close the distance and clinch but Dexter swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McCormick throws a body punch but Dexter moves out of range.
Dexter feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dexter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

McCormick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dexter . If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Dexter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Dexter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCormick looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Dexter throws an elbow that misses. McCormick uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dexter 's guard. Nice move by McCormick!

Dexter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Dexter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McCormick is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Dexter , into his guard.
McCormick gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

McCormick tries to clinch but Dexter moves out of range.
McCormick forces Dexter back against the cage and clinches.
Dexter tries for a takedown. No joy.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as McCormick takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Dexter has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
McCormick is pushing Dexter up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

McCormick is pressed up against the cage. Dexter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag McCormick down to the mat. McCormick avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Dexter 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
McCormick darts in and clinches Dexter up against the cage.
Dexter changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McCormick fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McCormick shoots in for a takedown but Dexter shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Dexter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that McCormick can do to turn this around?

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

McCormick tries to work over Dexter 's front leg with a kick but Dexter checks it.

McCormick's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Dexter shoots in looking for a takedown. McCormick tries to sprawl out of it but Dexter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McCormick manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Horrible takedown attempt by Dexter or perhaps it was just good defense by McCormick, which made it look bad.
And McCormick tries to counter it with a takedown but Dexter pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Dexter tries to score a power double leg takedown but McCormick sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Dexter somewhat.

Howard McCormick showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

McCormick is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

McCormick goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Dexter has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McCormick but great work by Dexter .

Dexter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but McCormick is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

McCormick makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McCormick.
McCormick pulls Dexter in close to his closed guard and prevents Dexter from doing any damage or advancing position.

Dexter drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Dexter as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! McCormick screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Dexter ! Nice submission victory there!
