Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rivers Naughton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brent Stoner! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Naughton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Stoner fails to land the takedown. Naughton shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Stoner tries to roll over but Naughton keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Stoner looking for submissions off his back. Stoner looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stoner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Naughton pulls his head out easily. Stoner trying to control but Naughton postures up.
Naughton wants to free his trapped foot but Stoner is holding on for dear life with his legs. Naughton controlling the action here. Stoner is trying to get back to full guard. Naughton wants to get back to his feet.
Stoner is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Stoner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Naughton. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Naughton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stoner is just riding it out for now. Naughton eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Naughton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Naughton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Stoner looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Stoner controlling the position for now. Naughton frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Stoner is in all sorts of trouble here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Naughton avoids the attempt from Stoner to control. Stoner might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Naughton haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Naughton trying to control but Stoner is having none of it. Naughton prevents Stoner from getting the reversal.

Naughton could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Naughton sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Stoner really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Naughton shoots in and gets a takedown into Stoner's guard. Rivers Naughton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Stoner looking for subs off his back but Naughton has passed one foot through into half guard.

Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stoner's head. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stoner can do anything to dispel that myth. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Naughton scoring with punches to the head and body. Stoner working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Naughton has passed into half guard!

Naughton throwing shots but Stoner is blocking nicely. Stoner is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Naughton jumps into side control! Naughton just content to control the position. Naughton wants to stand but Stoner is controlling his arm. Naughton looks up at the clock and then as Stoner takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Naughton smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Naughton has control of an arm but Stoner manages to advance to Naughton's back! Naughton wants to escape the position.
Stoner doesn't have the hooks in and Naughton manages to turn into his guard.
Naughton wants to get up but he can't break Stoner's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Stoner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Naughton gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Stoner has his foot on Naughton's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Naughton works his way back into a safe position though. Stoner has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Naughton can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Naughton wants to control from the top but Stoner keeps moving. Stoner trying to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Naughton throws a strike but Stoner rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Naughton is pulling down on Stoner's head. It's preventing any offense from Stoner, at least for the moment. Stoner trying to control the position from guard on top but Naughton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Stoner pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Naughton is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Stoner won't allow Naughton to get back to his feet. Stoner wants to pass the guard but Naughton is keeping the position. Naughton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Stoner should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Naughton has tightened it up now! Stoner should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
