Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barry Long (ranked 8811 p4p, 656 weight class) and DeSean Crawley (ranked 3530 p4p, 355 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, DeSean Crawley!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Crawley tries to sprawl but Long drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Long looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Long missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Long controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Crawley is refusing to be controlled, as Long sits in half guard.

Crawley is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Long jumps into side control!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Crawley tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Long wants to sweep here but Crawley controlling him for the moment.

Crawley is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Crawley is nestled in close to Long, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Long is looking to improve his position.

Crawley is just content to waste time from the top position. Long takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Long is trying to control but can't.
Long could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Crawley works his way into full mount!
Long in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Crawley tries to control but Long wriggling away.
Crawley sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Let's hope that Crawley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
