PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between sergius Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joze Oliveira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serra's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Drowning Pool- The Game. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Alexandre Firmino and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serra fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Oliveira turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Oliveira manages to end up in side control.

Serra shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Serra drops back looking for a leg! Oliveira is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Oliveira manages to kick Serra off! Serra jumps back into Oliveira's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Oliveira lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Serra looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Oliveira is fending him off so far but Serra persists. Nope, Oliveira circles away and we're back to standing.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Oliveira takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

Oliveira is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Serra can't fight it off and eventually Oliveira manages to take the fight to the floor. Serra looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Serra has his foot on Oliveira's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Oliveira works his way back into a safe position though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Serra has a couple of punches blocked by Oliveira.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Serra pushes off an fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Serra has Oliveira pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Oliveira manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Serra jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Oliveira walks away with a smile on his face. Serra gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Serra is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Oliveira is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

and Oliveira holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Serra shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Oliveira pinned against the cage. Oliveira gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Serra slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Serra drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Joze Oliveira has got the better of the ground game so far.
Oliveira utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Oliveira works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Oliveira would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Serra manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Joze Oliveira is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Serra jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Oliveira is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Oliveira and Serra has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

I would just about give that final round to Joze Oliveira.
Well Oliveira has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
