Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Smith (ranked 25452 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Ward (ranked 6090 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Joe Smith has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Joe Smith seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Ward! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward darts in trying to clinch and Smith counters with a takedown into side control. Ward is trying to escape the position but Smith is controlling the position. Smith in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ward wants to control but Smith postures up. Smith sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Ward is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Smith passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Ward! Smith looking to control and managing it successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Smith throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Ward tries to get back to half guard but can't. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Smith controlling from mount. Smith looking to ground and pound but Ward is blocking nicely. Smith tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Smith lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Ward can't escape the position.
Ward tries to hold on but Smith postures up. Ward sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Ward is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Joe Smith! Joe Smith bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
