PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Sixx (ranked 2702 p4p, 60 weight class) and Patrick Thompson (ranked 3076 p4p, 120 weight class). Sixx kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Fire of Power by WATAIN. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sixx darts in and clinches Thompson up against the cage.
Thompson misses with a body punch.
Thompson misses with a short punch on the inside.

Sixx blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Thompson misses with a punch to the body.
Thompson tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Sixx is trying to push Thompson away but Thompson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Thompson misses with a hook from the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Thompson.

Thompson tries to work over Sixx's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sixx throws an elbow but it misses.
Thompson tries to throw a body punch but Sixx avoids it by throwing Thompson back against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sixx just misses with a elbow thrown towards Thompson's brow.

Thompson cracks Sixx with a nice body shot.

Sixx manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Sixx had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thompson defends it easily.
Sixx is pulling down on Thompson's head. It's preventing any offense from Thompson, at least for the moment.

Sixx has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Thompson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Thompson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sixx has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thompson has managed to get both his arms back between Sixx's legs - danger averted.

Sixx is looking to stand up but Thompson isn't so interested in that idea.

Sixx bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thompson's guard.

Sixx is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sixx not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sixx has his foot on Thompson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thompson works his way back into a safe position though.

Sixx drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sixx jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

It looks like Vinnie Sixx has been cut.
Thompson digs a right hand underneath Sixx's ribcage. Sixx let out a lung full of air as it connected.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Thompson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Sixx's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Sixx drops to his knees and Thompson pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
