Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Skinner (ranked 25610 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodney Gore (ranked 25492 p4p, 0 weight class). Rodney Gore has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Douglas Skinner's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Skinner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rodney Gore!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Robert Twigg and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gore throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Skinner was covering up waiting for the punch and Gore finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Gore drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Gore jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skinner is on top in guard.

Skinner might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gore is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gore has Skinner pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gore has momentary wrist control but Skinner slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Skinner thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Gore has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Skinner is working away from the top position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Skinner missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Gore is looking to control Skinner's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gore avoid being mounted?

Skinner wants to control from the top but Gore keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Gore darts in looking for a takedown but Skinner gets double underhooks and turns Gore into the cage.

Skinner manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gore on his heels. He'll look to pass Gore's guard now, I'm sure.
Gore wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Skinner manages to pass to side control.

Gore sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Skinner shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gore defends it nicely.

Gore cracks Skinner with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Gore takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Skinner tries to buck Gore off but he can't manage it.

Rodney Gore has got the better of the ground game so far.

Gore has control of Skinner's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Skinner regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Skinner is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Gore pulls his head out easily.

Skinner is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Skinner tries to roll over but Gore keeps him under control.
Skinner landing rabbit punches to the side of Gore's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.

Rodney Gore showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Skinner shoots in but no luck this time.
Skinner swats away the attempt to clinch by Gore.

Skinner is trying to pull guard but Gore has him pressed against the cage.
Gore has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Skinner after a bit of a struggle.

Skinner has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Gore stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Skinner swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Skinner knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gore on the ground.
Skinner wants to sweep but no luck.
Gore wants to control from the top but Skinner keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

and Skinner makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Gore takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gore tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Gore closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Skinner did well to prevent Gore getting side control.
Skinner wants to get back to full guard.

Skinner tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Skinner looks like he's trying to stand up.
Skinner misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Skinner keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Gore tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Skinner.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gore looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Skinner is fending him off so far but Gore persists. Nope, Skinner circles away and we're back to standing.
Douglas Skinner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rodney Gore.
Gore shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Skinner pinned against the cage. Skinner gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Skinner moves into the clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Gore wants a takedown.

Gore escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Gore closes this distance looking for a takedown but Skinner circles away.
Skinner is looking to counter with a shot to the body.

so Skinner counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Gore looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Skinner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Skinner slips a nice elbow through Gore's hands, connecting with Gore's forehead.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
