Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, John Starman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Cross! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Starman throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cross tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Starman is in Cross's guard. Cross wants to get back to his feet but Starman passes into half guard.
Starman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Starman scores with a couple of good hammerfists. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Cross wants to control but Starman is keeping busy.
Starman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Cross is trying to stand up here but Starman is controlling him well. Starman looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Cross tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Starman paws at him with a jab and circles away. Cross feints a jab promting Starman to slip. Cross then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Starman slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Cross shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Starman manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Cross must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cross wants to stand but Starman has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Starman trying to control the position here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Starman is on top in guard.

Well, if Starman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Cross wants to clinch. Starman feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Cross is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Starman dives into side control.
Starman lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Cross down.
Starman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A lull in the action here as Starman stalls from top position. Starman is chipping away with strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Starman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cross is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Starman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cross can do to turn this around? Starman moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Starman in side control lands a decent elbow. Starman working the head with strikes. Starman connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cross some visible discomfort.
Cross is not in a great position here, taking some shots. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Starman is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Cross is trying to escape and Starman transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Cross is forced to tap! Nice work there by Starman! Very nice indeed!
