Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Staal (ranked 634 p4p, 82 weight class) and Castor Rollins (ranked 789 p4p, 101 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Eric Staal! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of New York, Castor Rollins! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Eddie Farnsworth and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rollins swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rollins connects with a crisp jab. Rollins takes a swing at Staal's ribcage but misses. Staal lands a jab. Staal throws a nice looking combination but Rollins bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Staal dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Staal connects with a body shot that sends Rollins's belly button to the back. Rollins tries to bum rush Staal with a series of wild strikes but Staal uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Staal moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Rollins moves out of range as Staal throws a body kick.
Rollins misses with a shot to the body and Staal connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Staal scores with a hook. This has been an exciting period of action! Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Staal lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Rollins has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Rollins and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Staal fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Rollins checks it well. Rollins lands with a hook. Staal tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Staal lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Staal looks to land a right hand but Rollins moved out of range. The fighters circling - Rollins throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Staal tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Rollins defends well and Staal ends up having to push Rollins into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Rollins throws a series of punches but Staal moves out of range. Rollins moves out of range of the body kick from Staal.
Rollins misses with a left hand letting Staal counter with a right hand. Castor Rollins is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A combination from Rollins does no damage. Staal swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staal scores with a spinning back kick! Staal lunges at Rollins with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Rollins's hand. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Staal misses with a body shot.
Rollins scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Staal doesn't seem bothered though. Staal throws a leg kick which misses Rollins's front leg but catches the back leg as Rollins tries to avoid it. Staal looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Rollins steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Staal. Rollins walks into a jab. Rollins throws a shot from downtown. Staal moves away and avoids it. Staal fails with a takedown attempt. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Staal, right into the meat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rollins misses with a straight right. Staal attempts a counter takedown but Rollins avoids it well and moves away. Staal lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Staal drops his hands momentarily and Rollins takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Rollins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Staal bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rollins ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Staal moves away. Rollins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Rollins throws a shot from downtown. Staal moves away and avoids it. Staal misses with a leg kick. Staal lands a really nice looking cross but Rollins seems unphased.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rollins uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Staal tries to land a front kick but Rollins steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Staal shoots in and gets a takedown into Rollins's guard. Staal is standing up over Rollins. Rollins looks to escape but Staal dives into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Staal misses with the ground and pound. Staal is trying to ground and pound but Rollins uses the momentary lack of control by Staal to regain half guard. Staal content to control rather than advance. Staal not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Staal changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Rollins fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rollins parries the strikes from Staal easily there. Staal is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rollins to escape.

Staal is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The strikes coming from Staal are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Staal lands an elbow. Rollins defending against the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staal postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Rollins tries to bench press Staal off him but Staal keeps the position. Staal lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rollins down.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Rollins manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Eric Staal overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Rollins is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment. Staal working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Rollins's thigh. Rollins counters though and makes it back to full guard. Staal trying to control the position from guard on top but Rollins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Staal seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. As Rollins backs away, Staal returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Rollins misses with a wild body shot. Rollins uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Staal. Castor Rollins has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Staal shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Staal bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Staal lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Staal lands a leg kick that knocks Rollins off balance momentarily. Eric Staal is winning the standup battle so far. Staal just misses with a punch to the body.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Castor Rollins. I think Staal has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
