PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casper Orion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Casper Orion!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Skip Squint.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orion keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Orion looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Reyes could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Orion is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Reyes still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Reyes has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Reyes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Reyes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Orion keeps working.
Orion struggling a bit here.
Reyes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Orion on the ground.
Orion manages to get back to half guard.

Orion is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Reyes pulls his head out easily.
Orion has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Reyes is working away from the top position though.

Reyes is tying to control. Orion wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A combination from Orion does no damage.
Reyes gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Orion counters with a right hand to the body.
Reyes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Orion paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Orion's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Orion duly obliges.
Orion throws a head kick that misses.
Reyes throws a sloppy head kick and Orion moves out of range easily.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Reyes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Orion tries to bum rush Reyes with a series of wild strikes but Reyes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Orion fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Reyes on the side of the head.
Orion fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Reyes closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Orion shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Orion was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Reyes is trying to escape the mount.
Reyes is breathing heavily.

Orion swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Reyes is now in Orion's guard. A big mistake from Orion there, giving up the dominant position!
Reyes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Orion swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Orion working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reyes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reyes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Orion had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Reyes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Orion Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Reyes's back instead.
Orion keeps control of the position as Reyes tries to break free.

Orion is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Reyes has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Orion doesn't have the hooks in and Reyes manages to turn into his guard.

Reyes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Orion is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Orion is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reyes is controlling him.
Reyes wants to control from the top but Orion keeps moving.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Casper Orion dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Reyes looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Orion tries to roll over but Reyes keeps him under control.
Reyes not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Orion is working to get back to half guard.
Reyes with shots to the head and body - Orion looks very uncomfortable down there.
Reyes avoids the attempt from Orion to control.
Orion sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Orion is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Reyes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Reyes's back!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Reyes gets to his feet - Orion follows without any prompting.

Reyes tries to keep at a distance but Orion has taken the fight into the clinch.
Reyes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Orion fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Orion tries to clinch up but Reyes circles away and keeps his distance.

Orion closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Orion has an Americana. Reyes didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Orion is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Orion hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
