Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pedro Perez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anass Rhammar! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, David Schapiro and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rhammar. That did some damage! Perez slips under a jab. Perez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rhammar swivels and escapes. Rhammar looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Perez fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Rhammar avoids it really well and circles away. Perez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rhammar swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pedro Perez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Perez has a takedown stuffed. Rhammar doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Perez shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rhammar sprawls well. Rhammar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Perez gets slowly back to his feet. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Perez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perez checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Perez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rhammar motions for Perez to come forward. Rhammar throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Rhammar lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Perez circles away quickly and effectively. Rhammar listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Perez lands a front kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Rhammar keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rhammar throws a shot from downtown. Perez moves away and avoids it. Rhammar scores with a sloppy right hand. Perez should have avoided that one. Perez moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Perez tries for a takedown but Rhammar sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rhammar drops Perez with a straight right hand, right on the button! Rhammar follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Anass Rhammar!
