PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Boom Boom (ranked 6106 p4p, 0 weight class) and Noah Avery (ranked 6075 p4p, 604 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boom Boom!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Noah Avery!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boom shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Avery as he avoids it easily.
Avery now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Boom shoots for a double leg takedown but Avery sprawls well. He's pushed Boom's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Avery swinging wildly here.
As Avery tries to get set, Boom tries to push him back and clinch up but Avery manages to avoid the attempt.
Avery throws a head kick but Boom moves out of range.
Boom is looking to counter punch.
Avery connects with a body shot that sends Boom's belly button to the back.

Avery moves into the clinch successfully.
Boom tries to break free but Avery pushes him back against the cage.

Avery gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Avery wants to stand but Boom has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Avery is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Avery passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Avery raining down hammerfists from mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Avery lands a big shot there that rocks Boom but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Avery can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boom is looking to escape.
Avery tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Avery is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Boom to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Boom shrugs it off.

Boom tries to hold on but Avery pushes him away.
Avery prevents Boom from getting the reversal.
Avery avoids the attempt from Boom to control.
Boom is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Avery prevents Boom from getting the reversal.
Boom tries to improve his position but instead Avery has taken his back!
Avery gets his hands free as Boom looks to control.
Despite being in a bad position, Boom is controlling the hands, preventing any submission attempts.

Avery lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Avery.

Boom defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Avery's arms.
Boom breaks Avery's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Avery is looking to stand up but Boom isn't so interested in that idea.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Boom is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Avery gets caught flat footed, as Boom shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Avery has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Avery prevents Boom from improving his position.

Boom is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Avery pulls his head out easily.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boom is in trouble now - Avery has advanced to mount!

Boom knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Avery on the ground.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Avery is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Boom can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Avery is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Boom is surviving well by controlling Avery's body position as best he can.
Avery is breathing heavily.

Boom keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Avery has hold of Boom's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Boom manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Boom wants to control but Avery is having none of it.

Avery tries to control but Boom wriggling away.
Boom is trying desperately to improve position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Avery working for a submission but Boom is keeping him at bay.
Boom really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Boom looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
I really don't envy Boom right now.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Boom looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Avery has the hooks in. Boom is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Noah Avery showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Boom closes this distance looking for a takedown but Avery circles away.

Boom tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Avery paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Avery slaps away a takedown attempt from Boom, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Boom Boom. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Boom closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Avery's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Avery can do anything to dispel that myth.

Boom slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Avery is controlling Boom's posture.
Boom tries to free his leg and advance position but Avery is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Avery is on top in guard.

Avery takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Boom has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Avery misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Boom pushes Avery away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Avery gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Boom closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Avery to the mat! Avery manages to get full guard.

Boom Boom has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Noah Avery is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Boom drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Avery dives on top into guard.

Noah Avery comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Avery has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
