Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Albert Aliev (ranked 25901 p4p, 0 weight class) and Halid Saadulaev (ranked 8476 p4p, 626 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Albert Aliev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Halid Saadulaev!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saadulaev shoots in and bounces Aliev off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Aliev is wriggling around but Saadulaev manages to pass to half guard.

Saadulaev throwing shots but Aliev is blocking nicely.
Saadulaev sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Aliev tries to kick Saadulaev off but Saadulaev keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Aliev has a takedown stuffed.

Saadulaev in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Aliev tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Saadulaev presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Aliev is breathing heavily.
Saadulaev cracks Aliev with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Saadulaev breaks from Aliev's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Aliev tries to reverse the position but Saadulaev maintains control.
Saadulaev lands a big shot there that rocks Aliev but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Saadulaev sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Saadulaev has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Aliev's face.

Saadulaev takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Saadulaev looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Saadulaev closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Aliev's guard.

Aliev has momentary wrist control but Saadulaev slips an elbow through the middle.
Saadulaev sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aliev's guard.
Saadulaev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Saadulaev is thwarting Aliev's attempts to control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Aliev won't allow Saadulaev to pass to mount.
Saadulaev content to control rather than advance.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Saadulaev lands a nice short elbow.
Saadulaev works his way into side control.

Saadulaev thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Saadulaev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Saadulaev is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Aliev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A lull in the action here as Saadulaev stalls from top position.

Saadulaev stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Saadulaev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Aliev tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Saadulaev paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Aliev blocks a head kick by Saadulaev.
Aliev tries to counter with a takedown but Saadulaev is quick to defend against it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Halid Saadulaev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Sloppy strikes from Saadulaev. Those never looked like landing.
Aliev changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Saadulaev drives through with a takedown into guard.
Aliev wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Saadulaev manages to pass to side control.


Saadulaev is trying to work for a kimura but Aliev is defending well.
Saadulaev keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Let's hope that Saadulaev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Saadulaev uses his free foot to push down on Aliev's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Aliev.

Saadulaev is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Aliev to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Aliev shrugs it off.

Saadulaev postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Aliev looks a forlorn figure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Saadulaev decides to stand up, so the ref orders Aliev to his feet.

Aliev gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Aliev wants to get back to his feet but Saadulaev passes into half guard.

Saadulaev circles away from the clinch attempt.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Albert Aliev has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Halid Saadulaev is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Saadulaev shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Halid Saadulaev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Saadulaev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
