Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Babb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Derek James has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Derek James seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Babb! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A bone on bone clash there as Babb blocks the leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Babb or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad. James fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Babb shoots in for a double leg but James sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. James throws a right hand that Babb ducks under and follows up with a left that Babb also avoids with ease. Babb shoots for a takedown but James saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Derek James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Austin Babb. Babb looks gassed! James scores with a jab. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. James lands with a thumping leg kick.
Nice combo by James! Oh, that's hurt him - Babb falls to the canvas and James follows him into side control.
It looks like Austin Babb has been cut. James wants to stand but Babb has his arm trapped. Babb tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but James wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. James trying to control the position but Babb is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Babb is positioning himself to get back to half guard. James wants to stand but Babb is controlling his arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. James trying to control the action but Babb is working from the bottom. Babb avoids any damage from the ground and pound of James. James stands up and we're back to a striking position. James misses with a head kick.
Babb fails to land the takedown. Babb takes one to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James drops Babb with a left and a right! Oh, Babb is hurt - James dives into side control looking to finish!
Babb is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. James trying to control the action but Babb is working from the bottom. Babb is still in real trouble! Can James finish him? James tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Babb seems to have recovered his senses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Babb is looking for a sweep. James is looking to take a break and control but Babb is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Babb tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. James pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Babb circles away from the clinch attempt.
James looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
James lands a right hook to the body.
James lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
James fails with an attempt to clinch.
James throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James connects with a body shot. Babb has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from James finds it's way round the side to connect with Babb's head. James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
James throws a right and a left that Babb avoids nicely. James misses with a hook. Babb ducked under it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Babb tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes. Austin Babb seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. James wants to clinch up but Babb keeps it at a distance. James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
James keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Babb changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Babb tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Babb has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Babb looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Babb is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek James dominated that round. The cut man is working on Austin Babb's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
James is looking to clinch. Babb swats away the attempt to clinch by James. James throws a quick inside leg kick. James tries to clinch up but Babb circles away and keeps his distance. James lands a nice looking body kick. James lunges at Babb with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Babb's hand. A head kick from James lands but Babb takes it in his stride. This has been an exciting period of action! James is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Babb hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Derek James!
