Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Alex Coxall (ranked 1724 p4p, 92 weight class) and John Eugemia (ranked 2619 p4p, 137 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
20 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Coxall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, John Eugemia! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Coxall misses with a low kick. Eugemia darts in trying to clinch and Coxall counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Coxall. Coxall slips nicely into half guard. Eugemia wants to control but Coxall is keeping busy.
Coxall is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Eugemia reverses the position - he's now on top in Coxall's guard. Eugemia throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Coxall is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Eugemia is aware though and is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eugemia with a flurry of punches that miss. Coxall has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Eugemia is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Coxall. Eugemia wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coxall, who protects the arm well. Eugemia has hold of Coxall's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Coxall tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Eugemia cranks the arm and Coxall screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Coxall, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). John Eugemia! An out of breath John Eugemia thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
