Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Reginald Alvarez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Marven!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marven shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Alvarez napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Alvarez wants to get back to his feet but Marven is dominant here and he's now got Alvarez's back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Marven's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Alvarez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Marven lands with a hammerfist to the side of Alvarez's head.
Marven keeps control of the position as Alvarez tries to break free.

Alvarez is in bad spot here.

Marven scores with punches to the body.
Marven doesn't have the hooks in and Alvarez manages to turn into his guard.

Alvarez decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Marven throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Alvarez.


It looks like Reginald Alvarez has been cut.

Alvarez scores with a takedown into Marven's guard.
Marven is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Alvarez dives into side control.
Marven looks winded!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Alvarez has control of an arm but Marven manages to advance to Alvarez's back!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez manages to reverse the position and now he's in Marven's guard. Nice work there by Alvarez.
Alvarez landing some decent shots from guard.
Alvarez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Marven is looking to sweep but instead, Alvarez has passed into half guard.
Alvarez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Alvarez lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alvarez lands a nice short elbow.
Alvarez looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Marven with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Marven has hold of Alvarez's hands but Alvarez slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Alvarez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Marven gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Alvarez scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Alvarez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Alvarez is working Marven over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Alvarez lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Alvarez stands and steps away. Marven gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Alvarez rushes Marven and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Marven has picked Alvarez up - he's going for a ride! Marven dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Alvarez kicks Marven off and gets back to his feet.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Alvarez shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Marven's guard.
Alvarez postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Alvarez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Marven's head.
Alvarez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Alvarez is working Marven over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Alvarez closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Marven to the mat! Marven manages to get full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Alvarez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Marven tries to land a front kick but Alvarez steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Marven gets a clinch.
Alvarez tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Alvarez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Marven is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Alvarez to the mat. Alvarez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Alvarez has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Marven doesn't defend quickly enough and Alvarez has managed to lock this one up! Can Marven escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Alvarez on a fantastic submission victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Reginald Alvarez!
