Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Scott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carl Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Scott throws a body kick despite being completely out of range

and Thomas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Scott's guard.

Scott looking for a guillotine here but Thomas defends easily.
Scott will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Thomas trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Thomas is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Scott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thomas is one step ahead there.

Thomas got a little sloppy there for a moment and Scott has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thomas has managed to get both his arms back between Scott's legs - danger averted.

Thomas stands up from Scott's guard - Thomas perhaps looking for a knockout.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Thomas throws a head kick but Scott moves out of range.
Scott throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Thomas looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Thomas closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Thomas breaks from the clinch.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Thomas drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Scott manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Thomas has Scott in his guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Scott might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Thomas tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Scott wants to pass the guard but Thomas is keeping the position.

Scott loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Scott lands a couple of elbows.
Scott postures up and lands a big shot to Thomas's brow.
Thomas has momentary wrist control but Scott slips an elbow through the middle.
Scott is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

We've been hearing that Scott has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Scott wants to control from the top but Thomas keeps moving.
Thomas is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Scott is working Thomas over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Scott's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Scott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Thomas is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Scott is aware though and is defending well.

Thomas throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Scott escapes and throws Thomas's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Thomas controls the position for a moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Scott is trying to get an arm triangle but Thomas is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Scott will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Thomas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Scott has his foot on Thomas's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thomas works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Thomas is in close to Scott's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Thomas wants to control from the top but Scott keeps moving.
Thomas looking to sit in guard and control but Scott gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Scott is sitting in close to Thomas's body. Thomas has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Scott is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Scott is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Thomas.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Carl Thomas!
