Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Anthony Whitfield! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bailey Hills! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Steven Brown and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slapping body kick lands there for Whitfield. Hills closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Whitfield did well to prevent Hills getting side control. Whitfield has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hills is working away from the top position though. Whitfield controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Whitfield tries to get to full guard but Hills has control of the leg. Hills controlling the action here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hills is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whitfield controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Whitfield is staying active underneath Hills, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Hills lands strikes from half guard. Whitfield keeps control of the position for the meantime. Whitfield is not content to let Hills control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Whitfield is pressing down on Hills's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Hills trying to control the position from guard on top but Whitfield is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Whitfield escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hills gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hills pushing down on Whitfield's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Hills is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Whitfield is looking to control Hills's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Whitfield avoid being mounted? Whitfield might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Hills is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Whitfield blocks a head kick by Hills.
Hills tries to clinch but Whitfield is having none of it. Whitfield appears to be looking for a big counter. Hills has Whitfield up against the cage in a clinch.
Whitfield is working for takedown but Hills is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Whitfield jumps into guard, dragging Hills to the mat.
Hills is working Whitfield over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Hills has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Whitfield is proving hard to escape from. Hills lands a couple of digs. Hills postures up.
Whitfield could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hills tries to stand but Whitfield is controlling from the bottom. Hills trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hills landing with the ground and pound. Hills trying to control the position from guard on top but Whitfield is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bailey Hills dominated that round. That's time! Whitfield's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hills closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Whitfield did well to prevent Hills getting side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Nice strikes from Hills there. Hills is looking to take a break and control but Whitfield is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Whitfield pushes Hills off looking to stand but Hills dives back in and keeps control.
Whitfield is refusing to be controlled, as Hills sits in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hills drops an elbow to the side of Whitfield's head.
Whitfield is rocked! Whitfield trying to hold on to Hills's head to control him but Hills postures up.
Oh Whitfield is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hills lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Whitfield quite badly. Whitfield pulls Hills in close trying to recover. Hills postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Whitfield on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Whitfield doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bailey Hills!
