Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jeff Hudson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy McGill! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Danga de danga de dang - Hudson scores with a four punch combination! Hudson fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches McGill on the side of the head. A momentary lapse in concentration from McGill enables Hudson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McGill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. McGill is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hudson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McGill keeping moving, preventing Hudson from controlling successfully. McGill throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Hudson not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Hudson scoring with some ground and pound. Hudson content to stall in guard here. Hudson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of McGill's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hudson pushes down on McGill's leg and manages to get into half guard. McGill tries to roll over but Hudson keeps him under control. Hudson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! McGill could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Hudson has cracked it and McGill is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Hudson!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jeff Hudson! In his post fight interview, Jeff Hudson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
