PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kron Kai (ranked 1168 p4p, 154 weight class) and Mace Blackblood (ranked 626 p4p, 87 weight class). Blackblood has chosen Gorgoroth Open the Gates as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kron Kai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Mace Blackblood!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blackblood displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
Kai cracks Blackblood with a good jab.
It looks like Mace Blackblood has been cut.
Blackblood moves out of range of the leg kick from Kai.
Kai looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kai gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Blackblood counters by moving into the clinch.
Blackblood tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Blackblood looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Blackblood tries a body shot but Kai blocks it.
Kai manages to break the clinch.
Kai tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Blackblood has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Blackblood there as he acknowledges the shot.
Kai throws a sloppy head kick
and Blackblood counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kai thinking.
Kai connects with a solid leg kick.
Blackblood lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Blackblood checks a leg kick nicely.
And Blackblood tries to counter it with a takedown but Kai pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Kai feints and then cracks Blackblood's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Blackblood down.
Kai throws a low kick but it's checked well by Blackblood.
Blackblood throws a body shot but no joy.
Kai ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Blackblood moves away.
Kai takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Kai misses with a straight left.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Blackblood connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kai. Kai circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

A bone on bone clash there as Blackblood blocks the leg kick.

Kai throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Kai misses with a hook. Blackblood ducked under it nicely.
Kai moves into range and connects with a jab.

Kai throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Blackblood is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Kai with a body shot.
The crowd cheers as Blackblood lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kai doesn't seem phased though.
Blackblood on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Blackblood connects with a body shot that sends Kai's belly button to the back.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A swing and a miss from Kai.
Blackblood throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kai sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Kai's corner calls for a 1-2. Kai obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Kai misses with a right hand
and Kai takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kai fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Blackblood throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Kai is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Kai.
Some bone on bone action there as Blackblood checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
A nice side step and Blackblood releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Blackblood gets a clinch.
Kai wants to get back to striking at distance but Blackblood won't allow it.
Blackblood lands on the inside with an uppercut.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Blackblood.

Kai takes an elbow to the forehead.
Kai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Blackblood takes the fight into the clinch.

Kai's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Blackblood lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

It looks like Kron Kai has been cut.
Blackblood misses with the head strike.
Blackblood gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kai regains guard.
Kai is controlling Blackblood's posture.

Kai is trying to keep Blackblood in close.
Kai has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blackblood missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Blackblood postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blackblood with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Blackblood is posturing up here but Kai has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Blackblood tries to roll out but it's too tight and Blackblood has to tap! Slick submission there by Kai!
