Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Damen Mayer (ranked 246 p4p, 34 weight class) and Jose The Blitz (ranked 390 p4p, 48 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Damen Mayer! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jose The Blitz! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, David Schapiro and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mayer moves into the clinch successfully.
Mayer has The Blitz pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. The Blitz manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. The Blitz tightens his grip and picks Mayer up, before dumping him to the ground. Mayer manages to land in guard. Mayer keeping moving, preventing The Blitz from controlling successfully. My spies in Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA inform me that The Blitz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Mayer had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. The Blitz defends it easily. Mayer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The Blitz keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Blitz is defending against the submission attempts here by Mayer.
That's one minute gone in the round. The Blitz trying to control but Mayer postures up.
The fighters are battling for position here. The Blitz manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Mayer wants to pass the guard but The Blitz is keeping the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mayer is fighting to break The Blitz's control of his arms but The Blitz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Mayer advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Mayer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but The Blitz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Mayer thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Mayer goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, The Blitz has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Mayer but great work by The Blitz. The Blitz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mayer keeps working. Sloppy strikes there by The Blitz. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mayer tries to buck The Blitz off but The Blitz is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The Blitz cracks Mayer with an elbow. That is naaassty. Mayer is looking for a sweep. Mayer looking for a sweep but The Blitz has passed into full mount! Oh no! The Blitz lands a big shot there that rocks Mayer but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The referee warns Mayer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mayer is squirming around, avoiding The Blitz's attempts to control the action. Mayer manages to regain half guard. Good work. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mayer slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Mayer throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The Blitz is pushing down on Mayer's leg trying to pass to half guard. Mayer is fighting to maintain full guard but The Blitz has managed to sneak the leg through. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose The Blitz dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Mayer decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Mayer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The Blitz tries to roll over but Mayer keeps him under control. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The Blitz moves into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Jose The Blitz has got the better of the ground game so far. Mayer sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. The Blitz doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Mayer paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from The Blitz - great work!

Jose The Blitz was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
