The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Alvarez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sheedy.
Alvarez lunges at Sheedy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Sheedy's hand.
Alvarez thuds a left hand into Sheedy's body.
Alvarez thows a left - swing and a miss!
Alvarez pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alvarez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Sheedy.
As Alvarez tries to get set, Sheedy tries to push him back and clinch up but Alvarez manages to avoid the attempt.
Alvarez takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Alvarez paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Sheedy scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Alvarez cracks Sheedy with a right hand to the side of the head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez slips under a jab.
Sheedy looks to land a right hand but Alvarez moved out of range.
Sheedy misses the jab.

Alvarez lands an overhand right.

Alvarez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Alvarez is trying to break the clinch but Sheedy is controlling him.

Sheedy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Sheedy misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Alvarez counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Alvarez throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Sheedy seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Alvarez takes a swing at Sheedy's ribcage but misses.
Alvarez tries to clinch there but Sheedy circles away.
Sheedy moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Kevin Sheedy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alvarez throws an off balance right hand
and Sheedy counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Sheedy jabs at Alvarez's body.
Sheedy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Sheedy slips a jab and a cross from Alvarez.
Alvarez swings widly with a right hand
and Sheedy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sheedy is pawing at Alvarez, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Alvarez's nose. Alvarez is badly hurt! Sheedy pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Alvarez tries desperately to hold on but Sheedy is relentless in his assault! As Alvarez receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Sheedy away and this one is in the books!
