Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Grady Froelich Jr!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Froelich Jr looks to land a left hand but Whelan moved out of range nicely.
A shot to the body from Froelich Jr misses
and Whelan counters with a straight right hand.

Whelan gets caught napping as Froelich Jr dives in and scores a takedown. Whelan manages to retain guard.
Froelich Jr is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Whelan pushes Froelich Jr off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

It looks like Grady Froelich Jr has been cut.
Froelich Jr wants to clinch.
Whelan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Whelan cracks Froelich Jr with a hook to the temple - Froelich Jr is on wobbly legs here! Whelan swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Froelich Jr falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Whelan wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sean Whelan!
After the fight, Sean Whelan was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
