Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Trevor Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adrian Cole!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Phillips is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Cole's half guard.
Cole really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phillips. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cole blocking the ground and pound attempt from Phillips.
Phillips thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cole's head.

Phillips is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cole has managed to free his arm - good work.
Phillips wants to free his trapped foot but Cole is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Cole avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Phillips.

Phillips is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cole on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.

Phillips is working for a submission of some sort.

Phillips wants to work for an arm triangle but Cole is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Phillips stalling away here and it's allowed Cole to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Phillips works over Cole with some ground and pound from guard.
Phillips with a flurry of punches that miss.
Cole keeping moving, preventing Phillips from controlling successfully.

Phillips drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Cole manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Phillips has Cole in his guard.


Phillips escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cole gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Phillips not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Phillips throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Cole escapes and throws Phillips's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Phillips is looking for a sweep.
Cole working away.
Cole in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Phillips has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Phillips prevents Cole from improving position.

Cole tries for a kimura but Phillips is defending well.
Phillips is trying to work for a sweep but Cole has mounted him!

Phillips can't escape the position.
Phillips wants to hold on but Cole pushes him away.
Cole thowing shots but they're missing.
Cole avoids the attempt from Phillips to control.
Phillips keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Phillips blocking the ground and pound.
Phillips wants to hold on but Cole pushes him away.
Phillips is working to get back to half guard.
Phillips regains half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cole is trying to control. Phillips wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Cole performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Phillips is not content to let Cole control the position.
Phillips gets full guard.

Phillips is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Phillips wants to sweep here but Cole controlling him for the moment.

Cole looking to improve position, pressing down on Phillips's thigh with his hand. Phillips seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Cole paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Cole's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Phillips picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
