Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vincenzo Calliente (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul Sanchez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Paul Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vincenzo Calliente!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Reed Andrews and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Calliente fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Calliente shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sanchez but Sanchez pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Calliente closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sanchez circles away.
Paul Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vincenzo Calliente.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Calliente throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sanchez's waist but Sanchez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Calliente off to one side.
Calliente throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Sanchez postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sanchez with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Sanchez wants to stand but Calliente is controlling his posture from full guard.
Calliente thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Sanchez stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Calliente swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Calliente is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanchez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sanchez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Calliente fails with the takedown

and Sanchez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Calliente!

Calliente tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Sanchez is landing with some decent strikes but Calliente is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Calliente has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sanchez is working away from the top position though.

Sanchez lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Calliente is trying to stand back up but Sanchez is controlling him

Calliente lands a couple of sideways elbows.
Calliente has his hands clasped together around Sanchez's back. He's all about the action.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sanchez gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Calliente pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but Calliente shows good takedown defense.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Sanchez dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Calliente has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanchez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sanchez avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Calliente has momentary wrist control but Sanchez slips an elbow through the middle.

Sanchez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Calliente's head.
Sanchez lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Calliente has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Sanchez doesn't defend quickly enough and Calliente has managed to lock this one up! Can Sanchez escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Calliente on a fantastic submission victory.
