Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Mulholland (ranked 6202 p4p, 555 weight class) and Shiba Chiharu (ranked 6735 p4p, 570 weight class). Chiharu comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Godsmack - Immune kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Daniel Mulholland! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Shiba Chiharu! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chiharu bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mulholland's head backwards. Chiharu throws out a loose jab but Mulholland uses good head movement to avoid it. As Chiharu backs away, Mulholland returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Mulholland pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Chiharu back to the cage. Mulholland follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Chiharu has closed the distance and engaged Mulholland in a clinch.
Chiharu scores with a nice hook to the head. Chiharu throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mulhollands head. Mulholland drops down looking for an ankle pick but Chiharu pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shiba Chiharu seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mulholland on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Mulholland drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Chiharu holds on to Mulholland's head and controls the position momentarily. You can see the frustration on Chiharu's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chiharu can do anything to dispel that myth. Chiharu is looking to reverse the position. That's one minute gone in the round. Mulholland in side control, throwing shots but Chiharu defends. Mulholland stands up and beckons Chiharu to his feet. Shiba Chiharu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Chiharu moves into range and clinches up with Mulholland. Chiharu lands with a short shot to the head. Mulholland breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Chiharu sizes up Mulholland with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Chiharu closes the distance and clinches. Mulholland takes a shot to the head. Mulholland jumps into guard, dragging Chiharu to the mat.
Chiharu prevents Mulholland from getting back to his feet. Chiharu is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mulholland looking to hit a scissor sweep but Chiharu is one step ahead there. Chiharu is looking to work some ground and pound but Mulholland has wrist control. Mulholland wants to stand but Chiharu is controlling the position. Chiharu throwing strikes but missing.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Chiharu misses with a wild combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chiharu misses with a two punch combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mulholland throws a head kick that misses. Chiharu drops his hands momentarily and Mulholland takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Chiharu displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Mulholland. Chiharu lands a nice shot to the body.
Mulholland gets tackled into the cage by Chiharu. Chiharu maintains the clinch. Mulholland has hold of one of Chiharu's legs. Chiharu is fighting the takedown attempt but Mulholland gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Chiharu is pulling down on Mulholland's head. It's preventing any offense from Mulholland, at least for the moment. Chiharu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Chiharu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mulholland is trying to control the position but Chiharu postures up. Chiharu working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Chiharu with a nice head shot there. Mulholland looking to control.
Chiharu is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Mulholland knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chiharu on the ground. Chiharu pushes down on Mulholland's leg and manages to get into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shiba Chiharu dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Chiharu tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mulholland swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chiharu lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Chiharu lands a jab to Mulholland's midsection. Daniel Mulholland is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mulholland walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Mulholland is rocked! Chiharu lands with a straight right. Mulholland didn't see that one coming. Oh Mulholland is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! No joy there for Chiharu, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mulholland tries to clinch but Chiharu moves out of range. Chiharu tries to sprawl but Mulholland drives through with a takedown into half guard. Mulholland seems to have got his legs back now. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chiharu is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mulholland's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mulholland's back! Mulholland is trying to break free.
Chiharu just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Mulholland is trapped and Chiharu is scoring with shots to the head and body. Chiharu lands with a hammerfist to the side of Mulholland's head. Chiharu is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Chiharu gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Chiharu gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Chiharu apologises and we restart here on the feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chiharu feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mulhollands jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Chiharu lands the left hand. Mulholland shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Chiharu defends it nicely. Chiharu lands a right hook to the body.
A telegraphed right hand from Chiharu misses the target. Chiharu throws the left hand but Mulholland avoids the punch easily. Mulholland avoids a punch combination nicely.
Chiharu misses with a looping left. Mulholland shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chiharu is trying to defend but Mulholland finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Chiharu controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mulholland blocks the strikes from Chiharu.
Chiharu is holding on to half guard well. Daniel Mulholland overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Chiharu is not content to let Mulholland control the position. Mulholland wants to stand up but Chiharu is controlling the position.
The fighters are battling for position here. Chiharu manages to regain full guard. Nice work. This has been an exciting period of action! Chiharu bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mulholland's guard. Mulholland being controlled here, momentarily. Mulholland controls Chiharu momentarily but Chiharu frees himself.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chiharu sitting in guard here, content to control. Chiharu has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mulholland preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Chiharu works over Mulholland with some ground and pound from guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chiharu pushes down on Mulholland's leg and manages to get into half guard. Chiharu works his way into side control. Mulholland is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mulholland pushes Chiharu away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Chiharu gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Chiharu working the head and body with strikes. Chiharu tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Mulholland is working to avoid the ground and pound but Chiharu connects with a decent elbow. Chiharu passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Mulholland! Chiharu is landing with some decent strikes but Mulholland is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Chiharu fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Chiharu controlling the pace for now. Chiharu with a couple of short strikes. Mulholland tries to lock up and control but Chiharu gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Shiba Chiharu showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Chiharu instigates a clinch. Mulholland is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Chiharu lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Chiharu stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Chiharu throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mulhollands head. Chiharu scores with a shoulder strike. Chiharu works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Chiharu lands a body punch. Chiharu drags the fight down to the ground.
Mulholland has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Chiharu is on top in guard.
Chiharu connects with a couple of short punches. Mulholland is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chiharu defends well. Chiharu looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chiharu passes easily into side control. Nice work. Chiharu controlling the position from side mount. Chiharu working the ground and pound but Mulholland is defending the strikes. Mulholland is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Chiharu landing a few strikes. Mulholland taking a bit of punishment here - Chiharu scoring with strikes. Chiharu works to advance to full mount. Mulholland defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Chiharu controlling from the full mount. Chiharu lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Mulholland wants to control but Chiharu is having none of it. Mulholland can't escape the position.
Chiharu has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Chiharu takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Mulholland wants to control but Chiharu is having none of it. Chiharu controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Chiharu landing punches. Chiharu raining down hammerfists from mount. Chiharu has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Mulholland's face.
Chiharu tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Chiharu scoring with strikes but Mulholland is staying in there. Daniel Mulholland has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Chiharu controlling the pace for now.
And that's the end of the fight! Shiba Chiharu comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Chiharu has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Shiba Chiharu! Shiba Chiharu tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
