PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Mendez (ranked 6245 p4p, 598 weight class) and Buddy Barnett (ranked 6308 p4p, 603 weight class). Barnett is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Move. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnett shoots in and gets a takedown into Mendez's guard.
Barnett with a flurry of punches that miss.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mendez has momentary wrist control but Barnett slips an elbow through the middle.
Barnett is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mendez takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Barnett tries to score with some ground and pound. Mendez controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Barnett cracks Mendez with a big right hand but Mendez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Barnett looks up at the clock and then as Mendez takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Barnett smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Buddy Barnett spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
