Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ronald Wagenknecht (ranked 7118 p4p, 586 weight class) and Jorma Suoro (ranked 5472 p4p, 526 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronald Wagenknecht! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorma Suoro! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Steve Erwin and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wagenknecht shoots in but no luck this time. Wagenknecht throws the left hand but Suoro avoids the punch easily. Suoro tries to keep at a distance but Wagenknecht has taken the fight into the clinch. Wagenknecht wants a takedown.
Wagenknecht jumps guard but Suoro stands there with Wagenknecht around his waist. Wagenknecht gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Wagenknecht definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronald Wagenknecht. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wagenknecht's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Suoro breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wagenknecht gets in close and instigates a clinch. Suoro is defending well against a takedown attempt. Wagenknecht stalling in the clinch.
Suoro escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Suoro misses with a few strikes there.
Suoro's coach down at Soul Supremacy Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Suoro's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. A momentary lapse in concentration from Suoro enables Wagenknecht to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Suoro manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Suoro trying to keep a closed guard but Wagenknecht is proving a slippery customer.
Wagenknecht trying to move into half guard but instead Suoro has managed to sweep! Wagenknecht pulls Suoro in close to prevent any damage. Suoro won't allow Wagenknecht to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wagenknecht holds on and takes a little breather. Suoro wants to stand but Wagenknecht is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Suoro wants to pass the guard but Wagenknecht is keeping the position. Suoro must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wagenknecht tries to land a sweep but no joy. Wagenknecht managing to control the position. Wagenknecht is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Suoro tries to get to full guard but Wagenknecht has control of the leg.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wagenknecht looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Suoro wants to get back to full guard. Suoro won't allow Wagenknecht to pass to mount. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wagenknecht in particular looking to stall. Wagenknecht has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Suoro defend it? Wagenknecht steps over the head and cranks it - Suoro is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Wagenknecht!
