Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Mamed Materla (ranked 7292 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aslambek Futin (ranked 25763 p4p, 0 weight class). Aslambek Futin told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, William Peck and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Materla shoots in looking for a takedown but Futin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Materla's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Materla has control of Futin's left arm, preventing Futin from doing any damage.
Futin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

It looks like Futin might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Materla fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Futin to the ground. Materla is now in Futin's guard.

Materla drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Futin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Materla has Futin in his guard.
Materla has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Futin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
