PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tim Pierno (ranked 681 p4p, 88 weight class) and Alessandro Orsini (ranked 581 p4p, 79 weight class). Pierno comes to the cage accompanied by Sick Puppies - You're Going Down . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Pierno!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alessandro Orsini!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orsini lands with an uppercut that bounces Pierno off the cage and back into range.
A lazy left from Pierno finds it's target.
Orsini takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Orsini ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Orsini avoids the body shot from Pierno.
Orsini will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Orsini tests Pierno's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Pierno ducks under a wild hook from Orsini.
An inside leg kick lands from Orsini.
Pierno tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Orsini takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Orsini gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Orsini throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Pierno looks to land a left hand but Orsini moved out of range nicely.
Orsini bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pierno's head backwards.
Pierno misses with a right hand
and Orsini counters with a left and a right that stings Pierno.
Orsini throws a right and a left that both miss.
Orsini has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Pierno darts in and clinches Orsini up against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Orsini.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Orsini misses with a short punch on the inside.
Pierno fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Orsini swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pierno jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Orsini walks away with a smile on his face. Pierno gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Pierno takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Pierno throws a shot from downtown. Orsini moves away and avoids it.
Pierno misses with a right hand
and Orsini makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Pierno uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Orsini has time to react.

Orsini attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Nice uppercut lands for Orsini. That snapped Pierno's head back.
Orsini steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pierno.
Pierno throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Orsini counters with a straight right hand.
Pierno throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pierno takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Orsini avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Orsini throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Pierno counters by moving into the clinch.
Orsini lands an uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Orsini blocks a body shot from Pierno.
Orsini misses with a punch on the inside.

Pierno drags the fight down to the ground.

Pierno looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Orsini distracts Pierno with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Pierno has momentary wrist control but Orsini slips an elbow through the middle.
Pierno being controlled here, momentarily.
Pierno looking to control.
Pierno preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Orsini makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Orsini is looking to work some ground and pound but Pierno has wrist control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pierno is looking for a triangle but Orsini pushes his legs off easily.

Pierno working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Orsini doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Pierno is tightening it up a little... Orsini has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Orsini reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Orsini taps out! Nice BJJ there by Pierno!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Tim Pierno!
During a confident post fight interview, Tim Pierno thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
