Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Pacheco! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mako Takaziko! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Takaziko rushes Pacheco and presses him up against the cage. Pacheco turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pacheco manages to end up in side control. Takaziko is trying to escape the position but Pacheco is controlling the position. Takaziko is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Pacheco is controlling him well. Pacheco staying calm. Takaziko tries to escape but Pacheco is in control. Takaziko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pacheco. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pacheco stands up. Pacheco bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Pacheco throws an elbow but Takaziko slips to the side and avoids it well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Pacheco working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Pacheco moves into full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Pacheco lands a heavy elbow. Pacheco controlling the pace for now. Pacheco with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
Takaziko is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Pacheco gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks! Pacheco shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Takaziko pinned against the cage. Takaziko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Takaziko is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Pacheco with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Takaziko throws a series of punches but Pacheco avoids them all with ease. Takaziko dips to his left and cracks Pacheco with an uppercut! Pacheco tries to score a power double leg takedown but Takaziko sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pacheco somewhat. Takaziko tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Pacheco scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pacheco is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Pacheco is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Pacheco is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Takaziko has managed to free his arm - good work. Pacheco is taking a breather. Takaziko says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Pacheco seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Takaziko for as long as he can get away with. Pacheco is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Takaziko defends it well. Takaziko looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pacheco is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jose Pacheco dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Pacheco shoots in and drives through. Takaziko sprawls well. Pacheco shoots in and bounces Takaziko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Pacheco thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Pacheco controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pacheco gets to his feet. Takaziko looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Pacheco bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Takaziko tries to bench press Pacheco off him but Pacheco keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pacheco happy to just control the position for now. Pacheco misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Pacheco remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Pacheco looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Takaziko tries to escape back to his feet but Pacheco has kept hold of him... Oh, now he's got Takaziko's back and is looking for the choke... Is it? Is it sunk in? YES! Takaziko is tapping! Pacheco saw the opportunity and took it - ruthless!

Jose Pacheco seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
