Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Miller (ranked 4786 p4p, 454 weight class) and Carlos Ruas (ranked 3945 p4p, 395 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeff Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carlos Ruas! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ruas scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent. Miller shoots in looking for a takedown. Ruas tries to sprawl out of it but Miller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ruas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Ruas gets a double leg takedown into Miller's guard. Miller is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Miller escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ruas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Miller has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Miller keeping moving, preventing Ruas from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas tries to free his leg and advance position but Miller is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruas slips nicely into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Ruas is looking to pass Miller's guard but actually Miller recovers to full guard. Ruas forces his way into half guard. Ruas frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ruas is trying to control here but Miller has managed to regain half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Miller is refusing to be controlled, as Ruas sits in half guard. Miller tries to roll over but Ruas keeps him under control. Ruas trying to mount his opponent but Miller defends it. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Miller is staying active underneath Ruas, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Ruas stalling. Ruas wants to free his trapped foot but Miller is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Miller! Miller slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Miller is looking to improve his position.
Ruas tries to pass to full mount but Miller defends it. Ruas seems to be looking for submissions.
Miller manages to get to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruas trying to control but Miller is working from the bottom. Ruas is pushing down on Miller's leg trying to pass to half guard. Miller is fighting to maintain full guard but Ruas has managed to sneak the leg through. Ruas is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Miller is looking for a sweep. Ruas is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ruas is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Miller! Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruas looking for a guillotine from mount but Miller is having none of it. Ruas wants to take Miller's back here but Miller is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

A jab lands there for Ruas. Ruas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Miller has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Miller there as he acknowledges the shot. Ruas scores with a jab. Good shot there by Ruas. Ruas takes a swing at Miller's ribcage but misses. Miller shoots in looking for a takedown. Ruas tries to sprawl out of it but Miller keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ruas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ruas connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Ruas uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Miller has time to react. Ruas lands a jab to the head.
Ruas cracks Miller with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Jeff Miller is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller moves forwards but Ruas connects with a nice, crisp jab. Ruas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Ruas scores with a nice head shot. Decent striking displayed by Ruas there. Ruas stuffs the takedown attempt from Miller. Miller gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Miller. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ruas moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Ruas lands with a right hand. Ruas connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Ruas lands an overhand right. Miller shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ruas as he avoids it easily. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Horrible takedown attempt by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Ruas, which made it look bad. Ruas with a nice cross.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Ruas. Ruas is looking to take a break and control but Miller is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Carlos Ruas has got the better of the ground game so far. Ruas advances nicely into full mount. Ruas moves to back control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruas is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Miller defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Ruas tightening his grip on Miller, looking for the choke. Miller staying busy and making it hard for Ruas to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Miller trying to control the action but Ruas just sinks the hooks in. Miller preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Ruas. Ruas looking for the rear naked choke. And he's got it! Miller taps!
