Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Igor Armas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Segerstedt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Igor Armas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Frank Segerstedt!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Donald Grub and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Segerstedt looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Armas!
Armas throwing hammer fists to the chest of Segerstedt. What's that going to do exactly?
Armas working to try and regain half guard.
Segerstedt lands with some strikes.
Segerstedt tries to control but Armas wriggling away.
Segerstedt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Armas slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Armas trying to hold on to Segerstedt's head to control him but Segerstedt postures up.
Armas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Armas is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Segerstedt looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Armas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Armas throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Armas tries to move to mount but Segerstedt blocks the move with his legs.
Segerstedt is trying to control Armas's posture but Armas avoids it.
Segerstedt is looking to regain half guard here but Armas keeps moving and retains side control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Armas has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Armas tries to advance to mount but can't.
Armas is breathing heavily.
Armas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Segerstedt keeps working.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Segerstedt shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Segerstedt was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Segerstedt lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Armas hang on?
Armas on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Armas tries to get out of the position.
Segerstedt wants to control the pace but Armas is squirming around nicely.
Segerstedt prevents Armas from getting the reversal.
Segerstedt controlling his opponent.
Segerstedt manages to capitalize on a mistake by Armas to take his back!
Armas wants to control his opponent's hands but Segerstedt gets his hands free.
Segerstedt has the hooks in. Armas is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Will Segerstedt go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Armas manages to reverse the position and now he's in Segerstedt's guard. Nice work there by Armas.

Armas drops back, looking for a kneebar! Segerstedt looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Segerstedt looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Segerstedt!

Armas manages to work his way to half guard, despite Segerstedt's best efforts.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Segerstedt prevents Armas from improving his position.
Armas gets back to full guard.

Armas looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Segerstedt trying to control the position from guard on top but Armas is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Armas looking for a sweep. Not yet Armas, not yet.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Segerstedt has his takedown stuffed

and Armas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Segerstedt's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Frank Segerstedt will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Armas looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Segerstedt is trying to stand back up but Armas is controlling him

Segerstedt makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Segerstedt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Armas is trying to improve his position.
Segerstedt advances nicely into full mount.
Segerstedt wants to get back to his feet but Armas is holding on tight.

Armas could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Segerstedt trying to control but Armas is having none of it.
Segerstedt is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Oh Armas is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Segerstedt gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Armas seems to have got his legs back now.
Armas shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Segerstedt pinned against the cage. Segerstedt gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Segerstedt tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Armas counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Armas throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Segerstedt works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Segerstedt is trying to keep Armas in close.
Segerstedt is controlling Armas's posture.

The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Segerstedt. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Armas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Armas is taking a breather. Segerstedt says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Armas in particular looking to stall.
Armas seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Segerstedt for as long as he can get away with.

Segerstedt is looking to control Armas's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Segerstedt avoid being mounted?

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close second round but I would say that Igor Armas will probably get the nod.

Armas is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Segerstedt won't allow Armas to pass to mount.

Armas seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Segerstedt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Armas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Armas's back!

Armas drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Segerstedt dives on top into guard.

Igor Armas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Armas is pulling down on Segerstedt's head. It's preventing any offense from Segerstedt, at least for the moment.
