PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Randleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and david abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kevin Randleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, david abbott!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Marco Blurström and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Randleman throws a right and a left that abbott avoids nicely.
Randleman lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like david abbott has been cut.
abbott pivots, looking for a leg kick but Randleman is out of range and abbott settles back down.
abbott should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
abbott wants to clinch.
Randleman steps into range and cracks abbott with a monster punch that buckles his knees! abbott flops backwards and Randleman dives into his guard looking to finish!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Randleman gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
abbott misses with a takedown attempt - Randleman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
abbott is looking to chop away at Randleman's legs.
Randleman tries to land a front kick but abbott steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
abbott moves in looking to clinch but Randleman pushes him off.

Randleman has abbott up against the cage in a clinch.
Randleman lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down abbott.

Randleman has abbott pressed against the cage.
abbott has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Randleman is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Randleman's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
abbott wants a takedown but no success here.
Kevin Randleman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of david abbott.
abbott looks gassed!

Randleman pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Randleman has taken the fight to the clinch.

Randleman gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Randleman stands up and waves to abbott to follow him.

abbott gets caught flat footed, as Randleman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Randleman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Randleman decides to stand back up.
Randleman throws a left that rocks abbott and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Randleman dives into side control, looking to finish! Can abbott regain composure!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Randleman is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt abbott will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Randleman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

abbott looks to move to half guard but instead Randleman has passed into mount! Damn!

Randleman pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Randleman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Randleman lands a heavy elbow.
Randleman will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

abbott is rocked!
Randleman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. abbott can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Randleman gets a clinch.

Randleman escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Randleman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

abbott is working an open guard so Randleman takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Randleman connects with a couple of short punches.
Randleman won't allow abbott to get back to his feet.
Randleman is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that abbott can do to turn this around?

Randleman works a leg free and moves into half guard.
abbott is breathing heavily.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Kevin Randleman just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Randleman looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for abbott!
Kevin Randleman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Randleman controlling the pace for now.

abbott defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Randleman.
abbott reaches up to try and control the position but Randleman seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! abbott rolls and tries to escape and now Randleman has his back!
Randleman is working the ground and pound. Can abbott escape?

Randleman slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Can abbott hold on?! Randleman is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

Randleman cracks abbott with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing abbott from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Randleman lands a shot to the head.

abbott is trapped and Randleman is scoring with shots to the head and body.
Randleman lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Randleman.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
abbott looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Randleman connects with a big shot to the side of abbott's head.
abbott is still in real trouble! Can Randleman finish him?
Can abbott hold on?! Randleman is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
abbott seems to have recovered his senses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Randleman looking to break abbott's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. abbott remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Randleman will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Randleman is looking for the choke from the back position but abbott is controlling his hands well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Randleman connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent abbott tumbling to the canvas! Randleman pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! abbott was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kevin Randleman!
