PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Takesi Hanada (ranked 7812 p4p, 242 weight class) and Sparring Partner (ranked 7898 p4p, 243 weight class). Takesi Hanada looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takesi Hanada!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Hirohito Nitta and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanada dodges the punch combination from Partner.
Partner defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hanada.
Hanada has been working on his balance at Blackscar Fitness, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Partner.
Hanada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Partner sprawls well. Partner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Hanada gets slowly back to his feet.
Hanada fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Takesi Hanada. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hanada shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Partner but Partner pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Horrible takedown attempt by Hanada or perhaps it was just good defense by Partner, which made it look bad.
Hanada is breathing heavily.
A combination from Partner does no damage.
It looked like Hanada was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Hanada could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Partner scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

It looks like Takesi Hanada has been cut.
Partner misses with a double jab.

Nice combo by Partner! Oh, that's hurt him - Hanada falls to the canvas and Partner follows him into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hanada is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Partner has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Partner is looking to take a break and control but Hanada is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hanada is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Partner has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Partner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hanada. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Partner tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Partner has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hanada is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Partner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hanada is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Partner has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Hanada managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Partner.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Partner prevents Hanada from escaping the position.
Partner tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Hanada is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Partner drops Hanada with a right and a left! Partner comes rushing in but Hanada regains his composure and manages to keep Partner in guard.

Oh Hanada is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Partner stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hanada swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hanada seems to have got his legs back now.
Partner wants to control from the top but Hanada keeps moving.
Hanada might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hanada manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Partner misses with a few strikes there.

Partner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hanada.
Hanada avoids a punch combination nicely.

Partner drops Hanada with a left right combo! Partner follows him down to the ground into side control.
Partner working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Hanada is not content to let Partner control the position.
Partner tries to score with some ground and pound. Hanada controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hanada throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Partner wants to clinch up but Hanada keeps it at a distance.

Hanada darts in looking for a takedown but Partner gets double underhooks and turns Hanada into the cage.
Partner batters Hanada with a massive right followed by a huge left! Hanada is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Partner lands a final crushing right hand to drop Hanada to the mat with a gruesome thud! Partner is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!
