Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Britt Burgess! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rauno Karhu! The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karhu fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Karhu shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Burgess pinned against the cage. Burgess gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Karhu tries to clinch but fails miserably and Burgess counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Burgess seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burgess wants to stand up but Karhu is controlling the position.
Burgess content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Burgess is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Karhu wants to control but Burgess is keeping busy.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Burgess feints and as Karhu raises his hands in defense, Burgess changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Karhu wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Burgess is now in half guard. Burgess controlling the pace. Karhu is looking to control Burgess's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Karhu avoid being mounted? Burgess controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burgess stands up out of the half guard. Burgess throws a low kick but Karhu moves out of range easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Burgess. Burgess ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Karhu moves away. Karhu shoots in looking for a takedown. Burgess tries to sprawl out of it but Karhu keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Burgess manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Britt Burgess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rauno Karhu. Burgess rushes Karhu and presses him up against the cage. Burgess pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Burgess fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Karhu, pushing him back against the cage. Burgess's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Karhu throws a lazy head kick and Burgess counters with a nice double leg into guard. Karhu wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Burgess manages to pass to side control. Karhu wants to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Burgess is taking a breather. Karhu says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Burgess not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Burgess in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Britt Burgess dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Burgess tries to clinch up. Britt Burgess is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Karhu tries to score a power double leg takedown but Burgess sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Karhu somewhat. Burgess throws a big counter combination but Karhu scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Karhu closes the distance and clinches up with Burgess, looking for a takedown. Karhu pushes Burgess against the cage but Burgess circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Karhu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Britt Burgess has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rauno Karhu. Left hook, right uppercut from Karhu. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Burgess closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Karhu did well to prevent Burgess getting side control. Karhu is trying to get back to full guard. Burgess is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
That's one minute gone in the round. Burgess looking for a guillotine from mount but Karhu is having none of it. Burgess jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Karhu manages to avoid the submission attempt. Karhu wants to control but Burgess postures up. Karhu manages to get back to half guard. Burgess is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Karhu can do to turn this around? Burgess is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Karhu! Karhu is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burgess looking for a guillotine from mount but Karhu is having none of it. Poor strikes thrown by Burgess there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Burgess thowing shots but they're missing. Karhu manages to regain half guard. Good work. Karhu wants to control but Burgess is keeping busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burgess perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Karhu tries to roll over but Burgess keeps him under control. Karhu has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Burgess is working away from the top position though. Burgess stops Karhu from getting back to his feet.
Karhu regains full guard. Nicely done. Karhu working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Burgess. Karhu can't keep his opponent in guard - Burgess advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Karhu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Burgess stands up from half guard. Burgess moves out of range of the leg kick from Karhu. Karhu shoots for a double leg takedown but Burgess sprawls well. He's pushed Karhu's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Burgess instigates a clinch. Burgess breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Burgess looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Nice takedown defense from Burgess. No joy for Karhu on that attempt. Karhu tries to sprawl but Burgess drives through with a takedown into half guard. Karhu is trying to get back to full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Britt Burgess dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Karhu is looking to improve his position but Burgess isn't that keen on the idea. Karhu manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Burgess takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Burgess looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Karhu with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Karhu actively working from the bottom here. Burgess performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Burgess seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Karhu for as long as he can get away with. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Burgess is looking to advance position but Karhu won't allow it. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Burgess looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Burgess closes the distance and pushes Karhu back into the cage. Karhu is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Burgess to keep the fight standing. Karhu jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Burgess walks away with a smile on his face. Karhu gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Burgess clinches up with Karhu and pushes him back against the cage. Burgess pressing his opponent against the cage. Burgess jumps into guard, dragging Karhu to the mat.
Britt Burgess overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Karhu trying to control but Burgess is working from the bottom. Karhu wants to pass the guard but Burgess is keeping the position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Burgess is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Karhu is aware though and is defending well. Rauno Karhu has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Britt Burgess is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Burgess is pulling down on Karhu's head to control his posture.
And that's the end of the fight! Britt Burgess showed his dominance in that final round. Well Burgess has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
