Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Braveheart (ranked 5735 p4p, 617 weight class) and Alexey Matveev (ranked 4956 p4p, 561 weight class). Alexey Matveev is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matveev scores with a crisp jab that stopped Braveheart in his tracks.
Braveheart takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Matveev's coach down at ELITE Island Gym - 19 Elite Coaches - $325/Week was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Matveev's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Matveev wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Braveheart misses with a takedown attempt - Matveev sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
It seemed like Matveev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Braveheart on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Alexey Matveev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Braveheart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Matveev's waist but Matveev gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Braveheart off to one side.
Braveheart looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
Braveheart walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Braveheart has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Braveheart there as he acknowledges the shot.

Braveheart working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Matveev is looking to reverse the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Braveheart is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Matveev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Matveev can do anything to dispel that myth.

Matveev has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Braveheart has hold of Matveev's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Matveev seems comfortable defending it but Braveheart has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Matveev is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Matveev is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Braveheart couldn't care less - he's delighted!

A very excited looking Jimmy Braveheart rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
