Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Danny Meechum (ranked 22661 p4p, 707 weight class) and Gustavo Carballo (ranked 5196 p4p, 520 weight class). The key to victory for Danny Meechum has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Danny Meechum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gustavo Carballo! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carballo stuffs the takedown attempt from Meechum. Meechum gets slowly back to his feet. Carballo clinches with his opponent.
Meechum breaks the clinch.
Carballo gets tackled into the cage by Meechum. Meechum maintains the clinch. Meechum pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Meechum clinches up against the cage. Carballo is trying to trip Meechum. He has hold of a leg but Meechum is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Carballo persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Carballo stays in close to Meechum's body and controls the position. Meechum is looking to stand up but Carballo isn't so interested in that idea. Carballo works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carballo trying to control the pace. Carballo stops Meechum from getting back to his feet.
Carballo passes into side control, despite Meechum's attempt to control the position.
Carballo takes a little break here. Meechum wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Let's hope that Carballo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Meechum tries to get back to half guard but can't. Meechum is working hard here to advance position. Carballo just content to control the position. It looks like Carballo might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carballo shoots in and gets a takedown into Meechum's guard. Carballo looking to pass the guard. Meechum working a defensive guard here.
Carballo is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Carballo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Meechum is keeping the position for now. Meechum trying to keep a closed guard but Carballo is proving a slippery customer.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Meechum is looking for a triangle here but Carballo uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Carballo happy to just control the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Meechum is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Carballo is one step ahead and moves to full mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gustavo Carballo dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Meechum fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Carballo checks it well. Meechum shoots for a double leg takedown but Carballo sprawls well. He's pushed Meechum's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Despite the aggression on Carballo's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Meechum looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Carballo is fending him off so far but Meechum persists. Nope, Carballo circles away and we're back to standing. Carballo lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Carballo scores with a takedown into Meechum's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carballo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Carballo prevents Meechum from getting back to his feet. Carballo postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carballo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Meechum will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Meechum is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Meechum can't keep his opponent in guard - Carballo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carballo in particular looking to stall. Meechum is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carballo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carballo's back! Carballo has hold of Meechum's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Meechum is trying to stick to Carballo's back but Carballo is turning into Meechum. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Meechum's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Carballo. Carballo forces his way into half guard. Meechum punching from the bottom.
Carballo with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Meechum is trying to maintain the position but Carballo is very close to passing his half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meechum is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Carballo is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Carballo in particular looking to stall.

Meechum looking to sit in guard and control but Carballo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Carballo slips nicely into half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gustavo Carballo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Meechum pushes down on Carballo's head and hops out. Meechum throws a counter high kick but Carballo was just alert enough to avoid it. Carballo forces Meechum back against the cage and clinches. Meechum tries for a takedown. No joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Danny Meechum. That's going to take a lot out of him. Meechum breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Carballo decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Meechum is looking to get back to is feet but Carballo passes into side control.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Meechum is trying to control Carballo's posture but Carballo avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carballo taking a breather here. Carballo gets to mount! Meechum was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Carballo sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Carballo is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! Meechum darts in and clinches Carballo up against the cage. Carballo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Meechum uses from the top position. Meechum wants to control from the top but Carballo keeps moving. Carballo is working an open guard so Meechum takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Carballo closes the distance and pushes Meechum back into the cage. Gustavo Carballo is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Carballo prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Meechum is looking for a takedown. Carballo decides to pull guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carballo is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Meechum wants to get back to full guard but Carballo has mounted him! Gustavo Carballo has got the better of the ground game so far. Meechum keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Carballo content just to control the position here. Danny Meechum has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
