Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randy Springs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Benny Winkler!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Springs fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Springs darts in and clinches Winkler up against the cage.
Winkler blocks an uppercut.
Springs tries a body shot but Winkler blocks it.
Springs struggles to land a body shot inside as Winkler controls his hands.
Winkler misses with a hook from the clinch.
Springs lands a shoulder strike.

Springs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Winkler connects with the punch.
Springs is trying hard to land a takedown here. Winkler sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Springs shoots for a double leg takedown but Winkler sprawls well. He's pushed Springs's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Springs has been working on his balance at IC&E Academy, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Winkler.

Winkler is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

Springs is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Winkler can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Springs is trying to drag Winkler to the mat but Winkler just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Springs has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Winkler cracks a nice hook into Springs's ribs.

Winkler shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Springs eats them both and turns towards Winkler to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Randy Springs.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Springs, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
