Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ben Elliot (ranked 4798 p4p, 541 weight class) and Oberyn Martel (ranked 6585 p4p, 652 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Elliot might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dropkick Murphys - I'm Shipping Up To Boston. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Elliot! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Oberyn Martel! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Elliot throws a shot from downtown. Martel moves away and avoids it. It seemed like Martel was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Martel shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Elliot's guard. Martel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Martel thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Elliot wriggles free and stands up. Martel throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Elliot counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. We've been told by Elliot's head coaches at Lovelair Muay Thai/MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Elliot thuds his right hand into Martel's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Elliot throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Martel throws an off balance right hand
and Elliot counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Martel fails with an attempt to clinch.
Elliot keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A little feinted left hand from Elliot on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Martel dives in and grabs Elliot's left leg, looking for a takedown. Elliot pushes down on Martel's head and hops out.
That's one minute gone in the round. Elliot swats away the attempt to clinch by Martel. Elliot was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Elliot listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Elliot scores with a jab to the jaw. Elliot slips a jab and a cross from Martel.

It looks like Oberyn Martel has been cut. Martel fails with the takedown letting Elliot counter with a right hand. Ben Elliot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oberyn Martel. Martel throws a right hand that misses

That's two minutes gone in the round. Elliot ducks under a wild hook from Martel. Elliot fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Elliot connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Martel gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Elliot counters with a stiff right hand. Elliot with a jab. Elliot catches Martel with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Martel wants to clinch but Elliot slips to the side and Elliot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Martel throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Elliot sees it coming and avoids it easily. Martel tries to close the distance and clinch but Elliot swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. The fighters circling - Martel throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Jab from Elliot. Elliot gets tackled into the cage by Martel. Martel maintains the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Martel misses with a punch on the inside.
Martel wants to take the fight to the mat but Elliot manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Martel tries for a takedown. No joy.
A short right from Elliot. A nice right hand lands inside from Elliot. Martel has a couple of punches blocked by Elliot.
Martel changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Elliot fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Martel slips under a jab from Elliot. Elliot loads up on a big right hand but Martel slips the punch. Martel tries to clinch up but Elliot circles away and keeps his distance. Elliot appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. Martel tries to clinch up. Martel feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Martel is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Martel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Elliot swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Martel trying to control the position from guard on top but Elliot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Elliot wants to stand up but Martel is controlling him. Elliot pushes Martel off and gets back to his feet.
Elliot is really peppering his opponent's head with punches. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Elliot missing with a left hand there. Martel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Elliot scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Martel doesn't seem bothered though. Oberyn Martel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Martel looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Martel jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Martel shoots and misses and Elliot counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Martel has his takedown stuffed and Elliot counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Elliot dominated that round. The cut man is working on Oberyn Martel's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Elliot swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Martel unleashes a big counter combination but Elliot bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Elliot is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Martel can do to turn this around? Martel misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Elliot misses with a hook. Martel ducked under it nicely. Martel throws out a counter right but Elliot avoids it with no problem. Martel tries to clinch up but Elliot circles away and keeps his distance. Martel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Elliot sprawls well initially but Martel persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Elliot makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Elliot takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Martel with a lazy takedown attempt and Elliot connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Elliot throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Martel knows he should have avoided that one. Martel closes the distance looking to clinch and Elliot counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Elliot lunges at Martel with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Martel's hand. Martel is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Martel takes one on the button. Martel shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Elliot but Elliot pushes him off and we're back to square one. Elliot swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Ben Elliot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Oberyn Martel.

Martel feints and as Elliot raises his hands in defense, Martel changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Martel won't allow Elliot to get back to his feet. Elliot keeping full guard, as Martel tries to pass. Martel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Martel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Martel drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Martel as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Elliot screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Martel! Nice submission victory there!
