PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sho Kazuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manny Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Woods comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Jackson 5 - ABC kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body punch from Kazuki.
A combination from Kazuki does no damage.
Kazuki looks to land a left hand but Woods moved out of range nicely.
Kazuki throws a hook but Woods avoids it easily.
Woods bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Kazuki fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Woods manages to avoid it.

Woods uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Kazuki.
Sho Kazuki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Woods closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kazuki to the mat! Kazuki manages to get full guard.

Woods wants the takedown. Kazuki is fighting it off but Woods persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kazuki's guard against the cage.

Kazuki swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Kazuki tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Woods was well out of range. Poor timing from Kazuki.

Kazuki stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Woods lands a left hand.
Woods makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Woods lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Kazuki is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Woods is keeping busy.
Woods manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Woods lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A short body shot lands from Woods as the two fighters clinch.

Kazuki tries a body shot but Woods blocks it.
Kazuki tries to work over Woods's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Woods gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Kazuki regains guard.

Kazuki is breathing heavily.
Kazuki misses with an uppercut. Woods saw that one coming.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Woods closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kazuki is looking for a sweep. Woods is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Woods is stalling here. Kazuki is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Woods seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Kazuki has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Kazuki advances to mount.
Kazuki wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Woods is working to get back to half guard.

Kazuki is going olschool here, as he tries to force Woods to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Woods shrugs it off.
Woods is desperately trying to improve his position but Kazuki has a good base and remains in mount.

Kazuki looking to control but Woods is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Woods wants to hold on but Kazuki pushes him away.
Woods is trying to stand.
Woods wants to control but Kazuki is having none of it.

Kazuki goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Woods turns into him and now he's in Kazuki's guard.
Woods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kazuki swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kazuki isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Woods stacks Kazuki on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Woods!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Woods is trying to get an arm triangle but Kazuki is defending well.
Woods is staying tight to Kazuki's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Woods sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kazuki is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Woods has Kazuki pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Woods pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kazuki tumbling to the mat - Woods dives into Kazuki's guard.
Kazuki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Woods manages to get himself to full guard.

Woods is looking to sinch up a triangle. Kazuki throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Woods's body to avoid the submission. Woods has instead reached around Kazuki's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Woods arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
