Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Swanson (ranked 25628 p4p, 0 weight class) and Victor Stroev (ranked 5777 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kendall Swanson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Victor Stroev!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stroev manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Swanson on his heels. He'll look to pass Swanson's guard now, I'm sure.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Stroev wants to pass the guard but Swanson is keeping the position.
Stroev slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Swanson controls Stroev momentarily but Stroev frees himself.

Swanson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Swanson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Stroev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Stroev lands in his opponent's guard.
Swanson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Stroev is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Stroev stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Swanson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Swanson looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stroev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swanson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Stroev seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Let's hope that Stroev has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Stroev shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Stroev was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Swanson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Swanson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Swanson has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Stroev is on him like a limpet, forcing Swanson back against the cage.

Swanson bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Swanson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Swanson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Stroev is one step ahead there.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Swanson wants to get back to his feet but Stroev is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Swanson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Stroev defends well and Swanson ends up having to push Stroev into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

It seemed like Stroev was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Victor Stroev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Swanson goes for a double leg but Stroev avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Stroev continues to drive forward.

Swanson has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Stroev is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kendall Swanson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stroev tightens his grip and picks Swanson up, before dumping him to the ground. Swanson manages to land in guard.
Stroev is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Swanson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Stroev's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Stroev can do anything to dispel that myth.

Stroev is wriggling around but Swanson manages to pass to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

I think Stroev has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
