PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Grenoble (ranked 6378 p4p, 0 weight class) and Antonio Braga (ranked 9155 p4p, 0 weight class). Antonio Braga told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Braga tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Grenoble paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Grenoble counters by moving into the clinch.

Grenoble manages to pull guard.
Grenoble is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grenoble cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Grenoble is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Braga to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Braga shrugs it off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Braga is wriggling around but Grenoble manages to pass to half guard.

Grenoble is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Braga is just riding it out for now. Grenoble eventually gives up the hold.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Braga shoots for a double leg takedown but Grenoble sprawls well. He's pushed Braga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Braga throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Grenoble's head.
Braga tries to score a power double leg takedown but Grenoble sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Braga somewhat.

Grenoble remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Grenoble is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Braga is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
