Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Federico Gaines (ranked 6790 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cho Yong Seung (ranked 6017 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Federico Gaines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cho Yong Seung!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Seung closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gaines to the mat! Gaines manages to get full guard.

Gaines looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Gaines seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Seung looking to pass the guard.
Gaines throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Seung accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Gaines knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Seung on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaines keeping moving, preventing Seung from controlling successfully.
Gaines is looking to stand up but Seung isn't so interested in that idea.

Seung wants to control from the top but Gaines keeps moving.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Seung gets a takedown into half guard.

Seung looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Gaines could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gaines keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Gaines tries to roll over but Seung keeps him under control.
Seung not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Gaines wants to get back to full guard.
Seung wants to stand up but Gaines is controlling the position.
Seung wants to free his trapped foot but Gaines is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Seung scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Seung wants to take a breather but Gaines is having none of it.
Seung is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Gaines regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Seung.
Gaines looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Seung tries to stand but Gaines is controlling from the bottom.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gaines looking for a sweep. Not yet Gaines, not yet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Gaines has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Federico Gaines has been cut.

Seung moves into the clinch.

Gaines jumps guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Seung wants to control from the top but Gaines keeps moving.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Gaines had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Seung defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Seung has Gaines pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Seung pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Gaines tumbling to the mat - Seung dives into Gaines's guard.
Seung postures up.
Seung has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaines has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Gaines has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Seung is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gaines is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Seung is pressing down on Gaines's thigh, looking to free his foot. Gaines is holding on for now.
Seung is still trying to improve position.
Seung seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Gaines does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Seung passes to side control.
Gaines is looking for a sweep.
Gaines tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.

Seung throwing strikes here but Gaines is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Seung prevents Gaines from getting the reversal.
Seung is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Gaines can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Seung is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Gaines can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Seung has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Gaines's face.
Gaines can't escape the position.
Seung wants to control the pace but Gaines is squirming around nicely.
The referee warns Gaines that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gaines is desperately trying to improve his position but Seung has a good base and remains in mount.

Cho Yong Seung showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Gaines gets tackled into the cage by Seung. Seung maintains the clinch.

Seung gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Gaines has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Seung is on him like a limpet, forcing Gaines back against the cage.

Seung tightens his grip and picks Gaines up, before dumping him to the ground. Gaines manages to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Seung got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gaines has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Seung has managed to get both his arms back between Gaines's legs - danger averted.

Gaines wants to sweep here but Seung controlling him for the moment.

Seung drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gaines looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gaines looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gaines!

Gaines takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Gaines lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Seung wants to control but Gaines is keeping busy.
Gaines looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Gaines lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Gaines scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Gaines is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Seung doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Gaines.
Federico Gaines has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cho Yong Seung is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Federico Gaines showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Seung has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
