Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gideon Navarro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jackson Finnegan! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Eliza Hachem and Francis DeMontford.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Finnegan misses with a double jab
and Navarro connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Navarro misses with a looping left. Navarro tries to bum rush Finnegan with a series of wild strikes but Finnegan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. A little jabbing left from Finnegan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. Finnegan dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Navarro jabs Finnegan to the body, keeping him at a distance. Sloppy strikes from Navarro. Those never looked like landing. Navarro misses with a body punch
and Finnegan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Navarro throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Navarro connects with a jab. Navarro waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Finnegan. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Finnegan throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
letting Navarro counter with a right hand.
Finnegan is rocked! Gideon Navarro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Finnegan misses with a few strikes there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Navarro lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Finnegan tries a head kick but it misses.
Navarro on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Finnegan looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Donk. Navarro catches Finnegan right on the button with a cross. Navarro looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Navarro closes the distance and clinches. Finnegan misses with a punch on the inside.
Navarro lands a left hand.
Finnegan with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Navarro lands a left hand that snaps the head of Finnegan backwards. Finnegan is still on wobbly legs! Can Navarro finish him? Navarro drops Finnegan onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Finnegan is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Navarro creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Finnegan with a big uppercut! Finnegan tries to clinch up but Navarro pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Finnegan to the mat! Finnegan covers up and Navarro unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Gideon Navarro! An out of breath Gideon Navarro thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career. Jackson Finnegan spoke after the fight, saying 'Congratulations to my opponent. He was the better fighter tonight.'.
