Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Derek Payne (ranked 1549 p4p, 173 weight class) and Drew Carvalho (ranked 2886 p4p, 298 weight class). Carvalho has chosen Wrecked-by PARKWAY DRIVE as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carvalho throws a leg kick but Payne sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Payne blocks a head kick by Carvalho.
Carvalho misses with a leg kick
and Payne counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Payne throws a body punch but Carvalho moves out of range.

Payne uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Carvalho.
A little feinted left hand from Payne on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Carvalho throws a sloppy head kick and Payne moves out of range easily.

Payne throws a nice looking combination but Carvalho bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Derek Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Payne looks to land a combination but Carvalho avoids it well.

Payne connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Carvalho momentarily.
Carvalho throws a hook but Payne blocks it.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carvalho has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Carvalho there as he acknowledges the shot.
Good work by Payne as he checks the leg kick.
Carvalho takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Payne fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Carvalho looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Payne catches Carvalho with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Carvalho walks into a left hand.
Carvalho defending well as Payne loads up on a big left hand.
Carvalho counters with a body kick.
Payne scores with a decent looking hook.
Payne feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Carvalho sprawling to the canvas! Carvalho rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Payne finish him?!
Carvalho is rocked!
It looks like Drew Carvalho has been cut.
Payne ducks under a wild hook from Carvalho.

Payne jabs Carvalho to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Payne swings for the body but Carvalho moves out of range.
Carvalho seems to have recovered his senses.
Carvalho looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Payne lands a nice looking body shot.
Payne lands a big right hand that sends Carvalho crashing to the mat! Payne stays standing though and waves Carvalho back to his feet!
Payne drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Carvalho right on the button. Carvalho goes down! Payne follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Payne gets the win via TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Derek Payne!

A relieved looking Derek Payne thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Drew Carvalho stepped up to the mic, saying '......fluke.'.
